Our Behaviour Management coalition in conjunction with the school community, has developed an Ashmore State School Responsible Behaviour Plan. At Ashmore we recognise that one of the keys to a harmonious environment is being able to identify when and how relationships need repair and to adopt a community-wide approach to problem-solving. As well as an overview being provided at enrolment, the more detailed plan is available for perusal by viewing our responsible behaviour plan (PDF, 1.5MB) document. We promote the principles of “Restorative Justice” and “Community Conferencing” as the basis for resolving conflicts in the school setting. Put simply, the community of people affected by the incident need to be involved in the repair of the harm and the resolution of issues.

Protective and preventative programs at Ashmore include:-

  • Peacemakers (Peer mediation)
  • Classroom meetings
  • Personal Development lessons
  • Buddy system (within class)
  • Planning Room
  • Buddy classes (pairings between senior and junior classes)
  • Interactive social skills performances by “Brainstorm Productions”
