Prep to Year 6 students can access Mathletics. Mathletics is a web-based learning program which integrates home and school learning via the internet. Mathletics is aligned to the Australian Curriculum. There are thousands of students in schools across the USA, UK, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand accessing the site every day. We recommend that you spend time looking at the program with your child so that you can gain the greatest understanding of how Mathletics will benefit your child.
Students are engaged and motivated to learn.
Mathletics is adaptive which means that it responds to the individual student’s strengths and needs.
Animated support guides students through concepts at their own pace which is like having a personal maths tutor.
Students instantly know if they are on the right track and can work through the curriculum at their own pace.
Students reading and comprehending mathematical problems.
Live Mathletics fosters a stimulating and exciting online learning community.
Results flow seamlessly between home and school so you can stay informed of your child’s progress.
Weekly parent emails allow you to monitor your child’s progress.
Take an active role in your child's mathematics progress.
Encourage your child to use Mathletics 3 to 5 times a week.
Encourage a balance between the Full Curriculum section and Live Mathletics.
Take time to work together with your child. The Support Centre in each activity will help show how to solve a particular problem.
Discuss challenging words your child has difficulty understanding.
Encourage your child to do activities that challenge, rather than those he/she finds easy.

Once again, Ashmore State School will offer our students the opportunity to consolidate and extend their learning through the IMPACT program.
This year we will be offering 3 programs.
Term 1 - Just Write – Yr 3is an extension program. It is offered to students who are already good at writing. It aims to help them go “from good to great” and will sharpen up their writing skills and develop a greater sense of confidence and achievement in writing. The program is based on the premise that to be a great writer, you have to appreciate and analyse great writing! Just Write students are extended beyond formulaic writing. They discover how successful writers create ideas and expand on those ideas to draw the audience in. They practice the craft of writing, constructing sentences and passages that convey subject matter, mode and tenor.
Term 2 – Coding – Yr 4. The Code Breaker project navigates students through online structured coding and computational problem solving activities. It aims to engage students to think and problem solve while acquiring an understanding of how technologies can work for them. Code Breaker provides an introduction into computer programming using Block Code and progresses to the basics of Python, including an understanding of computer programming syntax. Code Breaker exposes, engages and challenges students to embrace innovation in a digital age. The Code Breaker Project also provides a great opportunity for students to experience online learning. It includes the chance to connect and collaborate with students from other state schools in Queensland.
Term 3 – Mathematical Inquiry – Yr 5. Shape Up extends students’ ability to apply mathematics, numeracy and technology skills to real-world contexts. Shape Up students:
further develop their mathematics and numeracy skills, with a focus on the number, shape and measurement strands;
employ design thinking processes in response to mathematical-based design challenges;
create a digital design portfolio.
